Module 7 – Foundational Links

Many of you have launched a Shopify store to complement the physical retail stores you operate. In this situation, there are some foundational link-building opportunities that you can take advantage of to help your site rank and improve local visibility in Google.

Local business directory links are a fantastic way to kickstart your link-building. You can use them even if you don’t have a physical outlet if you are willing to publish your address.

Local Business Information Worksheet

Make a copy of this worksheet and use it to compile all of the relevant business information you will need to submit to business directories and the like.
If you have multiple physical retail locations you should complete a separate column for each location.

Remember each physical retail location should have its own dedicated page on your website and when you build local citations or links for each store, those listings should link back to that store’s page on your website.

Overview

How to

In this video, I’m going to give you a quick overview of two services I’ve used in the past to get local business citations.

The page of the services are listed below.

Simply sign up and input the information you compiled on your Local Business Information worksheet.

Remember the key is having your business name, address, and phone number be consistent on your website, your Google My Business listing, and on third-party directories.

Remember, when submitting your business information, to submit the business’s publicly facing email and phone number, not your personal number. (Trust me, this mistake has happened)

You can try to submit these citations manually but that will take you a lot of your valuable time. You are much better served using one of these third-party services to submit your business citations.
